Update from Jon Whitcombe, Trust Principal -

Secondary Statement

As you will be aware, the DfE has stated that Year 10 and Year 12 students will receive some “face to face” contact with their teachers during Term 6. Currently, we are awaiting guidance from the DfE as to what this means in practice.

Once the guidance is published we will develop our plans and make the necessary arrangements. On June 1st we will write to you explaining what “face to face” means in practice and we will be in a position to confirm when this will commence.

Please note that the current arrangements for online teaching for Years 10 and 12 will continue until further notice.

Prior to starting the course, you are expected to do the following before you start and hand in during your first week of lessons (or before if you would like feedback)

1.Make a leaflet of the history of the NHS.

Include:

  • what was healthcare like prior to NHS

  • when and why was it started

  • what do they do

  • what is the significance of the NHS

  • how is healthcare managed in other countries

2. Choose a professional from the following and create a fact file:

  • Doctor

  • Midwife

  • Paramedic

  • Nurse

  • Dietitian

  • Physiotherapist

  • Podiatrist

  • Osteopath

  • Care Worker

  • Social Worker

Include the following:

  • roles and responsibilities

  • entry requirements

  • skills & qualities needed for role

  • salary

  • who do they support

3. Over the last few weeks, a pandemic has been declared, what does this mean for our country and what pressure has it put upon the NHS?

Think about what staff have been affected and how are they supporting people, what equipment have they needed to keep themselves safe and who have the main frontline staff been?
