Update from Jon Whitcombe, Trust Principal -
As you will be aware, the DfE has stated that Year 10 and Year 12 students will receive some “face to face” contact with their teachers during Term 6. Currently, we are awaiting guidance from the DfE as to what this means in practice.
Once the guidance is published we will develop our plans and make the necessary arrangements. On June 1st we will write to you explaining what “face to face” means in practice and we will be in a position to confirm when this will commence.
Please note that the current arrangements for online teaching for Years 10 and 12 will continue until further notice.- Read More

Welcome to the Whitstable School Sixth Form. Whether you are already a pupil at the school or are considering joining us, we would like to extend a warm welcome. We have developed an innovative and fresh approach to Sixth Form studies, offering a modern and dynamic experience for our students. With a clear commitment to the personal development and well-being of each individual, we support students in selecting a programme which suits their specific strengths, interests and abilities, and provides clear routes of progression for their future.
We offer a unique approach in that we build our curriculum around our students. We provide a full range of both vocational and academic courses, including traditional A levels and Level 3 BTECs and the International Baccalaureate. We have the highest expectations for our students, and place the utmost importance on supporting them to meet their full potential. From specialist sports resources; our own dance theatre; new study spaces and excellent ICT provision, this new curriculum broadens the number of subjects we are able to offer.
International Baccalaureate Careers Programme
IBCP at The Whitstable School
In addition to our pathways we also run the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) which is a two year qualification package designed for students aged 16-19. It is a holistic framework which focuses on developing students’ skills by engaging them in career-related education that still has a strong academic focus.
The programme leads to further/higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
We believe in the development of independent learning and transferrable skills and, as a consequence, offer a varied enrichment programme including work experience opportunities, mentoring and support for younger students, and the chance to organise and oversee fundraising events to name a few. We have strong links with local universities and often arrange visits.
We welcome applications from external students as well as those studying in Year 11 at The Whitstable School, and look forward to working with you in the future. Entry requirements for the Sixth Form are detailed in our prospectus. All applications should be made through the new Kent choices website https://www.kentprospectus.co.uk/.
