Update from Jon Whitcombe, Trust Principal -

Secondary Statement

As you will be aware, the DfE has stated that Year 10 and Year 12 students will receive some “face to face” contact with their teachers during Term 6. Currently, we are awaiting guidance from the DfE as to what this means in practice.

Once the guidance is published we will develop our plans and make the necessary arrangements. On June 1st we will write to you explaining what “face to face” means in practice and we will be in a position to confirm when this will commence.

Please note that the current arrangements for online teaching for Years 10 and 12 will continue until further notice.

The Whitstable School - IB World School

19/07/19

The Whitstable School is delighted to announce that we are now an authorised IB World School and will be offering the International Baccalaureate Career Programme (CP) from September 2019. We are excited to add this additional pathway to accompany our established and successful BTEC and A level pathway at Post-16. The CP was specifically developed for students who wish to engage in career-related learning while gaining transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement.

In an official letter to confirm the result of the International Baccalaureate verification process, The Whitstable School was given the following feedback: ‘We commend your school’s educators, administrators, students and families for their active roles in choosing to offer the CP. The positive results of this choice will become evident in your community as classes of CP students graduate and undertake activities that enhance social, cultural and economic environments locally, nationally and, perhaps, internationally’.

Mrs Gibson, Headteacher, said ‘Becoming an IB World school affirms our school culture of “Learn Locally, Think Globally”. It encourages both personal and academic achievement. It challenges students to excel in their studies and in their personal development.’

IB International Day—18th July 2019

The school celebrated this achievement by having an International Day, where students could take part in different activities such as talking Italian, Olympics and sports events, Day of the Dead mask making, origami, landmark building and an international film. Students really enjoyed the afternoon and there was a real buzz around the school.

There are limited places available at The Whitstable School Sixth Form for  September 2019.
Call Mrs Brown (Assistant Headteacher/IBCP Coordinator) on 01227 931300 for more information.
