Post 16 Results – 2017

Best Results Ever!

Students in the Sixth Form at The Community College Whitstable collected their exam results on Thursday 17th August 2017 and joined staff in celebrating their achievements in their A Level, AS Level and BTEC level 3 courses. Standards at the school continue to improve, highlighted by substantial progress in academic A Levels and excellent vocational results.

Improvements in academic A Levels are a result of the school ‘Putting Learning First’, with an increase in the percentage of students not only achieving their grades but also achieving higher grades in comparison with recent years. Vocational courses continue to be a real strength with an average grade of a Distinction being achieved by students across all subjects.

As well as improving results for the whole cohort, there were some outstanding individual achievements. Hasita Haider, will be the first in her family to attend University, she achieved a Distinction* in all of her chosen subjects and has accepted a place at the University of Kent to study Cultural Studies and Social Anthropology. Chantelle Lloyd is another student who achieved Distinction* in all her courses and is now pursuing level 4 apprenticeship opportunities in Business. Logan Dean-Edwards is also blazing a trail to the University of Kent to study Computer Science, he achieved an impressive B grade in his A Level English Literature and Distinction* grades in his vocational subjects. Ruby Abercrombie is another student whose hard work resulted in excellent final outcomes, achieving a B grade in her A Level Textiles and Film Studies and a C grade in her English Literature course.

All students achieved good results, which is especially impressive given that the exams were more challenging than before.  The hard work and achievements of the students have led to a range of options and progression routes for students with some opting for university whilst others are undertaking apprenticeships and taking on employment traineeships.
